Unlinkability

Short definition

Make it difficult to link two identities, relationships or activities.

Concrete example

Alice uses separate invitations but copies the same alias and avatar: separation fails.

What it protects

Reduces some joins between accounts or contacts.

What it does not protect

Not voluntarily shared clues, Discord timing or device traces.

Why it matters

A stable identifier can link contexts even without a civil name.

Example messenger behaviour

SimpleX requires no global ID; the initial invitation from Discord remains a trace.

Technical details

Separate account identifiers, relationship identifiers and network observations.
